Having trouble blending eyeshadow...?

I've been using cheap brushes to apply and blend my eyeshadow. And it never comes out right. It looks blotchy and uneven. Especially when I am trying to get the smokey effect. I don't know if it's me or the cheap brushes that I own. Would it be better if I go and buy an expensive brush from MAC? I dunno maybe I just don't know how to apply eyeshadow.Having trouble blending eyeshadow...?
It kind of does depend on the brushes you have. The higher end brushes have stronger fibers on them so it does not take away the eye shadow. The cheap ones take the eye shadow off and just toss it around. MAC is not the only the sells good brushes. It depends on what you like. Personally, MAC is my favorite.

Here are some good places:

Good luck!!Having trouble blending eyeshadow...?
if you think you don't know how to apply, go to the shadow salon website. it shows you different combos and gives you tips on the perfect eyeshadow.
Instead of purchasing some really expensive brushes, buy some nicer paint brushes. Same thing, but for a better deal (and often a better quality because the hairs/strings in paint brushes are held in tighter to withstand many different artistic mediums). You can also try applying and blending your makeup with your finger, it will make it look more natural and softer without 5 minutes of blending. Try one last time to blend your eyeshadow (when you're not planning to go out), but blend in a circular pattern. It should come out a bit softer and more even--if not, definitely get new brushes.
Try investing on an expensive one. It's worth it and they last for years anyway. I bought this eyshadow brush from Victoria Secret and it still gives me a perfect application everytime......Also, are you using a cheap eyeshadow? Sometimes the problem is the cosmetic itself, not the brush.
try using your finger or something for blending but apply the eyeshadow with the brush good luck
You need good brushes and good makeup (eyeshadow) and unfortunately getting good quality products usually comes with a big price, but trust me it's worth it to get the end result. I like brushes made out of pony hair they work really well when it comes to blending. Also when trying to achieve that smokey eye effect use a chisel ended brush this gives you a precise line. I use Clinique makeup and love it. MAC I've heard is good too I've just never tried it so I can't really say. A great website to check out for makeup and beauty needs is sephora.com also if there is a Saphora store near by where you live go there they have great girl stuff!
I like the brushes they have at Mario Tricoci. I get compliments on my eyeshadow a lot and it is so easy to do.
really its not ALL in the brushes...although MAC and other expensive brushes work great, you can still get the same effect with a set of GOOD brushes...sephora has good ones. the type of make up and the application is the way you achieve the smoky look..i personally just use the brushes that come w/ my make-up and it works just fine...but if you invest, you will see the difference.
Use your finger... it's the best tool you have with the most precision. forget what you've heard about germs and how using your finger is a no-no... definitely your best tool.
you need a good clean brush and good eyeshadow as well. i would suggest buying mac brushes they work great or you can even go to target and buy brushes by sonia kashuk ( dunno how to spell her name) i love mac eyeshadow..they last all day and aren't smudgy..if you aren't sure what you're doing go to the mall and go to a make-up counter and ask them how to do it..cause it really depends on the type of eye lid that you have to make the smoky effect look awesome!
I never use brushes. I always use my finger. You can get much better blending this way and not waste money on expensive tools.
Use your finger to put on the eyshadow and rub around, or if you really want to use a brush, shu uemura makes GREAT brushes and makeup!
I have an 8 piece brush set that I got for Christmas that came from Walmart and it works great. But if your brushes really aren't working, try your finger or a Q-Tip to blend. When I put eyeliner on my top eyelid, if i just apply and go, it looks bad but I can blend really good with a Q-Tip.
Personally, I'd say keep working at it. I'm not big on spending money, though. :) Try using other ways of blending, ie a q-tip, your finger, damp brush or makeup sponge. You could also have a consultation done at a local department store. They could help. How about your eyeshadow? Are you using the good stuff or the cheap stuff? The cheaper the eyeshadow is made, the worse it's going to come out. If all else fails, then buy you some new brushes.
well try a better brush and if it doesn't help then try taking a make-up course.
It's got nothing to do with the brushes. Brushes are brushes. It's do to with how you use them. I find it easier to apply the eyeshadow wherever you want it and then just use your little finger to blend blend blend. Fingers are the best make-up tool you can have!

Good luck!
Brushes do make a difference, MAC isn't the only company that has brushes. Revlon makes good brushes, I'm a Mary Kay consultant and I have the brush set, if you're willing to spend the money it's $45, you could call 1-800-Mary Kay to find someone near you and everything is guaranteed so if any of them break you get a new set. I'm sure MAC won't do that.
A quality brush does make a difference. MAC does sell really good brushes...i know because I use them. You can also buy quality brushes from Sephora too. I recommend that you go to MAC and buy some brushes. The main brushes you will need are powder, blush, blending, contouring and slant tip...oh and one for applying concealer. The MAC makeup artist will also show you how to apply and blend your eyeshadow.
